IU-Greens denounced other transfer of municipal facilities to UCAM (07/07/2014)

IU-Greens today denounced other transfer of public sports facilities to the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), which adds to the municipal stadium of La Condomina for using the football club that private center.

As explained in a press conference Councilman left formation in the capital, José Ignacio Tornel, the council has given the football field in the hamlet of La Raya, municipal character, the University Rugby Club Murcia.

Tornel indicated that the club appears on the website of the regional federation as a University Rugby Club Rugby-UCAM Murcia and also there is a profile on the social network Facebook with the same name.

This "raises questions about what equipment and organization will enjoy the facility", said, noting that his group has asked the Municipal Councillor for Sports, Miguel Cascales, by the terms of the transfer agreement, without response.

The IU-Greens mayor pointed out that the poor state of the pitch from the La Raya led to the village headman alerted to the possibility that both vanish school football teams as the hamlet.

"Cascales always argued lack of economic resources" to undertake the refurbishment, but "finally conducted, including field repair, installation of natural grass and renewal of electrical installations".

In total, the City Council allocated 116,000 euros to recover "which at the time left to lose" after denying the request of the headman of facilities maintenance to prevent deterioration and "once lost school football teams and Stripe "which merged with Puebla de Soto.

In addition, the council has said the June 25 Board of Governors approved an agreement with the University Rugby Club Murcia for which grants it a subsidy of 9,000 euros for the 2013-2014 season.

Meanwhile, other rugby team competition that share the city with the aforementioned "received only 600 USD per year," according Tornel, who has known this fact "verbally".

In his opinion, "does not explain the refusal to maintain the facilities before it deteriorates and then make an investment of over € 100,000," and criticized the "lack of transparency to the Municipal Board," which reveals "a process nothing transparent. "

"It is urgent to establish whether the UCAM sponsors or owns this team, which would be a new episode of preferential treatment to a religious private entity that supplies public resources directly, without advertising or possibility of competition for the rest ".

It has also ensured that there is a strategy for entering the UCAM in the use and enjoyment of sports facilities, based on agreements signed without publicity or possibility of concurrency.

The agreement between the City and the UCAM 2014-2019 is the example. "

"The Department of Sports favors municipal sports schools are managed by UCAM and become a source of business, divine and human, for this confessional private company. The aim of this private school is monopolize the business of sport in Murcia and it favors government team practices as we denounce. "

Tornel has advanced training rule not bring to justice these "favored treatment" involving the transfer of municipal facilities to private and denominational entity.
