"In the Government House, Murcia dying" (07/07/2014)

The deputies of the Socialist Group Pedro Lopez and Andrea Garries again lament the desolation royalty Murcia offers tourists during the summer.

So much so that several hotels in the city are closed during the summer before the downturn of customers and to save costs.

"It is unfortunate that Murcia offer this summer," insists Lopez, who does not understand the passivity and lack of initiative of a government that, year after year, dying leaves town without doing anything about it, even though this procrastination is detrimental to employment and the economy of our town.

Both councilors have expressed concern about the inactivity of a PP that has no projects or strategies, or the will and courage to do anything, after twenty years of government of La Glorieta.

In this sense, Garries recalled that, since the beginning of term, the Socialist Group has continued to propose initiatives to revive tourism in Murcia during the summer months that have never been taken into account by the local PP.

A series of actions that work for some time in other tourist destinations, among which are has detailed the PSOE mayor museums opening-night, night tours, theatrical tours, establishment of a specific cultural program for the months of July and August, performances by local groups in public places, the potential relaunch dela Huertacomo attraction, summer theaters in districts, easy access for tourists to do night in Murcia to other nearby destinations, and more.

Motion: Theatre Festival in foreign language

Thus, Garries reported to defend another motion in Parliament this month, asking the PP to launch a theater festival in a foreign language that could accommodate the municipal theaters (Romea, Circus and Bernal), as during the months of July and August have no programming.

It is a proposal that members of the tourism sector to the Socialist Group moved a few days ago.

"Our region has great tourism potential and Murcia must seize reef tourists who come to our shores to attract them to the city," said Garries, who has also suggested that high temperatures can not play against us.

Can anyone imagine that cities like Seville, Cordoba and Zaragoza were empty due to summer heat?, Has questioned the PSOE mayor.
