The UCAM AMETIC and celebrate a day of orientation on the development of smart cities (03/07/2014)

The UCAM and AMETIC (Multisectoral Association of Electronic, Technologies of Information and Communication, Telecommunication and Digital Content), co-financed by the public entity Red.es, organized the conference 'European Funds 2014 -2020: Opportunities for SMEs & Smart Cities', aimed at students in their final year degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering Building, as well as professionals in the public and private sector Murcia they can work not only in technology but also in any other sector that can incorporate Internet of Things to improve processes.

The day allowed the speakers to share with students an overview of the possibilities in the field of Smart Cities (Smart Cities) both at the development of devices, applications and network deployment, and in terms of business opportunity Europe through European funds.

The conference was opened by José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM, who said that "we want to be constantly in the forefront of research and transfer, as well as training professionals are always at the forefront."

In addition, he accompanied the President of the Committee on Smart Cities of Ametic, Adolfo Borrero;

and the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Region of Murcia, Francisco Martínez Asensio;

who stated that the Smart Cities shape a "modernization concept and define the city's future."

Meanwhile, Adolfo Borrero said it is a "business opportunity for the industry around renewable energy and energy efficiency, and allows small businesses to develop applications for Smart Cities. European funds are in a high proportion the Smart Cities ".

Furthermore, experts like Teodoro García, member of Congress and a member of the Committee on Industry, Energy and Tourism, and associate professor UCAM;

and John Gascon, director of Ametic;

Antonio Romero, head of the Innovation and Competitiveness Development Institute of the Region of Murcia;

and Rafael Melendreras, manage Degree

Telecommunication Systems Engineering UCAM;

presented their views and shared the latest developments in Smart Cities.

Among the objectives of the development of Smart Cities, are the implementation of mature management systems that allow greater efficiency of the city intended for the value proposition of the city as a tourist destination, as well as services that enable improve key elements with direct impact on the citizens and visitors (mobility, security, etc..), with special attention to accessibility.

Are contemplated, and also among other services that remain useful for citizens and visitors, enabling greater energy savings and thus improved the environmental sustainability of the city.
