The full City Council unanimously approved the initiative by Union Progress and Democracy to protect unique places in the system of canals and ditches of the Huerta de Murcia.

Murcia UPyD initiative, championed by Councilman José Antonio Sotomayor, aims and use the results of the project 'Naturba', commissioned by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Planning of the Autonomous Community to identify key parts of the network irrigation, in addition to identifying the singular points of the hydraulic system of the Huerta.
