Inauguration of Miguel García Salom as dean of the Faculty of Medicine (18/06/2014)

Murcia University today held the inauguration ceremony of Professor of Physiology Miguel García Salom as dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

Also took over the rest of the decanal team composed of the secretary, Bernardo López Cano, and Miroljub vicedecanos Popovic Popovic (Student and International Relations), Mary Romero Falcon (Pharmacy), Francisco Medina i Mirapeix (Physiotherapy), Vanessa Roldán Schilling (Hospital Universitario Morales Meseguer), Francisco Martinez Diaz (Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía), Luis Fernando Carballo Alvarez (Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca), Carmen Robles Moreno (Medicine) and Fabio Camacho Alonso (Dentistry).

Salom García, who won in the elections held in the center in late May, succeeds Joaquín María García-Estañ, who has held the Dean the last eight years.

The event, which has been developed at the Faculty of Medicine, on the campus of Espinardo, was presided over by the rector, José Orihuela, and general secretary, Santiago Álvarez.

The new dean has said that the management team will be headed "committed and transparent" for the benefit of the Faculty and the University.

Meanwhile, the rector Orihuela has offered its support to all the objectives of the Faculty of Medicine, which he described as the "flagship" of the University.

Orihuela has shown its commitment to the campus Health Sciences, which stands beside the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca a reality as soon as possible.

During the ceremony, he has performed the Tuna from the center, which has provided support to the incoming team.
