The City Council renewed its commitment to the homeless. (04/06/2014)

In order to ensure access to the city of Murcia to the homeless and those who are in need due to supervening circumstances the service of temporary accommodation and food service by contracting with Jesus Forsaken Foundation Board, the Governing Board of the City of Murcia has given the green light this morning to the collaboration between the two institutions.

The service will renew the Foundation has the following objectives:

- Meeting the needs of housing and feeding the homeless or other economic resources, over 18, who can not by themselves cover these basic needs and are in early or advanced social uprooting, to carry out actions that promote their personal and social development.

- Provide municipal social services from primary care with the resources needed to address specific situations of social need.

- Respond immediately to people at risk of social exclusion.

- Since these social care services to homeless people (homeless, transients and immigrants) in the context of the obligation and municipal jurisdiction have developed actions for the social care of the basic needs of the above groups.

Among the functions that take just would have to highlight the easy access of normalized transient persons, homeless and immigrants to the social resources available to our town;

. act on the most pressing needs (immediacy), such as temporary housing, food, medicines, etc, that arise in a group with few social resources, regardless of their administrative situation;

prevent situations of marginalization and social exclusion;

and develop actions that promote personal and social development of these groups.

To access these services, the requirements to be met are:

- Not be registered in the municipality or pregnant and have no actual center or have supervening social emergency situations

- Lack of stable housing.

- Are in a situation of not being able to meet basic needs with its own resources.

The experience gained by the Foundation Trustees Jesus Abandoned in the development of these services for homeless people in the town of Murcia, puts this entity as a local leader in social work with this group.

In this regard we note the Foundation as the only social institution that since 1992 has developed these services through agreements with the City Council, it is currently the only company with headquarters in the town of Murcia has the means , management capacity and infrastructure necessary for the provision of temporary accommodation and meals (soup kitchen) aimed at pedestrians and homeless people on the expected volume.

The Foundation has the necessary infrastructure to cover the 45 seats in the temporary housing shelter.
