The Conference "Smart Cities" in Murcia analyze the present and the future of the local environment (03/06/2014)

The rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, participates tomorrow, Wednesday, August 4 at the opening ceremony of the First Conference "Smart Cities", a forum for discussion on the challenges and opportunities of the cities in the environment.

Under the direction of Professor of Administrative Law and General Secretary of this educational institution, Santiago Alvarez, the conference gather for two days in Murcia qualified specialists representing various public administrations and companies address issues such as energy efficiency, mobility sustainable development and implementation of ICT in cities.

Among the objectives of the meeting, addressed to all professionals interested in the efficient and sustainable management of natural and energy resources, include the exposure of the main environmental problems of the municipalities (noise, air pollution, etc..) And mitigation measures and the regulations enforceable.

Similarly, experiences between public and practitioners about the different aspects that affect the sustainable development of cities will exchange: water, sanitation, lighting, communications, security, green areas ....

In addition, the latest technologies in energy efficiency relating to transport, mobility and alternative energy will be released, and both municipal flagship projects conducted in Spain, as the experiences of design and regeneration of urban spaces is presented.

Finally, we also reflect on the need to adopt new local regulations and, if the case, additional tax incentives.

The sessions will be held in the city of Murcia, which is the organizer of the conference.
