Nearly 200 Seniors celebrate the end of term of 12 book clubs (02/06/2014)

About 200 elderly in the municipality participate tomorrow in the final year of book clubs social care homes act.

The auditorium of the Regional Archive is the place chosen for this celebration, to be attended by the members of the Reading Club and Board of Directors, as well as various volunteers along the course of performing a task to encourage reading in the Social Centres for the Elderly.

Chair the event the Deputy Mayor for Social Welfare and Health, Maruja Pelegrin and the Director General of Cultural and Artistic Education, Carmen Batres, president of the Cultural Association of Teachers of Murcia (Acdomur).

Ms. Ana Morenilla and president of the Friends Foundation Reading, María Encarnación García Álvarez.

The event will participate Murcia Rabadán Francisco writer, who will speak about his work and the value of writing in general.

Following this intervention related audiovisual reading is projected.

Another part of the act will be reading various pieces of literature, made by participants of the reading clubs, seeking to share their work during the course in a common act thus giving more emphasis to the activity of the Reading Senior Centers.

Each attendee will receive a gift book provided by the Regional Library.

The number of clubs currently reading is twelve, with a progressive increase since its inception and demand to start new clubs in other Senior Centers.

The number of people involved in all the clubs Reading is about 150 more volunteers to coordinate and streamline the approximately 18 others.

Reading Clubs Social Centres for the Elderly in the municipality of Murcia have been operating since 1998 through a collaboration agreement between the city of Murcia and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Community, which also involved voluntary organizations.

The objectives of this activity are to promote the reading habit among people over, so that it affects the social and individual improvement of older people, through the promotion of this cultural and educational activity.

To meet these objectives, participants have collective loan book performs various Regional Library Club.

Reading Clubs usually meet one day a week with the participation of older members of the CSM that are part of this activity, coordinated by a volunteer who performs tasks encourage reading, reading a preselected work and provided by the Regional Library through collective license.

Currently the volunteers who are providing such services fall into three Associations.

Clubs are grouped into two associations:

ACDOMUR VOLUNTARIADOCENTRO-ASSOCIATION: The Fleet Vistalegre, S. Anton, S. Andres S. Antolin, Garres, La Cueva (Monteagudo), S. Miguel, Santiago and Zaraíche and Fame.

-FRIENDS FOUNDATION READING: Bacons Bridge and La Alberca.

Voluntary member of the Senior Center Cabeza de Torres.
