About 49,000 schoolchildren from 58 schools in the county participate in the "Green Schools" program (23/05/2014)

Murcia City Council, through the departments of Environment and Education, directed Adela Martinez-Cache and Lola Sanchez is rewarding schools that meet certain environmental requirements, through awareness and conducting actions aimed at improving the environment.

Santiago García Medel school, situated in the hamlet of La Era Alta and Green Sangonera institute have been selected this time to grant the distinction of Green Schools, as both have worked very hard and looking forward to your goals environmental.

Since the launch of the "Green Schools" program in the 2001-2002 academic year, a total of 48,922 students in 58 schools in the municipality of Murcia have participated in this program, with 23 centers awarded the badge.

Santiago García Medel school participates in the program of the Department of Environment of the City of Murcia since 2010. During these four years his work and efforts have been noticed with the help of the entire teaching community, but especially with of its main protagonists, the children who until the last year of primary guided his teacher Pedro Suárez made possible from kindergarten that his "school" is today a role model to the management of waste.

The IES Sangonera Green is more veteran, and participating in the program since 2008.
