A doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia warning about the risk of the use of children after separation (21/05/2014)

A doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Murcia has warned about the risks and possible consequences of the use of children after marital separation if one spouse uses them to cause harm to another.

The dissertation, with its author, Francisco Carrillo Navarro, has been rated as outstanding cum laude, added that one of the dangers is the unleashing of parental alienation syndrome.

Faced with this risk, the study, which analyzes joint custody and the ethical and legal conflicts that arise after separation, says it may be a protective factor, especially if it is conceived as a way to improve parent-child relationships .

The divorce with joint custody, said the conclusions of the thesis, "produce specific ethical dilemmas that increase with the judgment of the Supreme Court in 2013."

The High Court in its judgment upheld joint custody as a rule provided that it is not detrimental to the child, you should always be the preferred interest.

This research, which was led by Professor Aurelio Luna, also concludes with a series of proposals that pediatricians offer so they can make use of them when they face problems arising from the separation.
