Murcia quadruples separate collection since its launch in 2000 (16/05/2014)

Mayor visits the workshops set in the Garden of Floridablanca to commemorate World Recycling Day.

Recovered paper in containers in 2013 would have prevented the cutting of more than 100,000 trees, while the reused glass saves nearly a million gallons of fuel.

Estrella Levante has been awarded the III Recognition for his contribution to recycling.

".... It's time for recycling" and Murcia celebrates today with results that make me optimistic: since this service began in 2000, has quadrupled the amount of packaging waste, paper and glass are collected, which increased from 4,192 tons to 15,748 tons in 2013.

These results have been known in the day that the World Recycling Day is commemorated, why the Floridablanca Garden has hosted various activities of environmental issues organized by the City of Murcia and the concessionaire of this service, Cespa.

The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, accompanied by Councilman Urban Cleaning and Waste Management, Jose Ros, Cespa delegate in Murcia, Antonio Igualada, and the President of the Municipal Board, Michelangelo Saura, visited and Recycling Market educational workshops for over 300 schools that have visited throughout the morning.

Before starting the tour, Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, Patricio Valverde has given the Recognition of World Recycling granted in this third edition Estrella Levante for being "a company concienciada to the environment and which is distinguished by its commitment for the three R's, reduce, reuse and recycle in their production systems. "

If collaboration is critical industries, is also essential awareness of citizens to spread the habit of separating because, in addition to giving a second life to waste, helps to save natural resources, reduce emissions and combat climate change.

In the case of Murcia, this effort has measurable consequences:

- Recycle paper 1,000 kilograms 14-15 avoid cutting trees, making Murcia in 2013 "saved" 101,655 felling trees

- 1 Ton of used glass bottles saves 130 liters of fuel, so in 2013 the Murcia saved 881,009 liters of fuel.

- With two tons of recycled plastic used 1 ton of crude oil saving and reduced emissions of greenhouse gases and waste generated in the process.

- By recycling one plastic bottle saves the energy needed to keep a light bulb lit for 6 hours or a can recycling saves energy to watch TV for 3 hours
