The University of Murcia compete with electric vehicles in the Shell Eco-marathon (07/05/2014)

The University of Murcia today introduced the ecological prototype, designed and built entirely by students of the institution, which will participate in the competition Shell Eco-marathon 2014, bringing together 15 to 18 May in the city of Rotterdam (Netherlands) over two hundred teams in Europe and Africa.

The team from the University of Murcia, called EcoVeUm, is composed of chemical engineering students, led by professors Mariano Alarcón and Antonio González Carpena, competing for the first time in the category of electric vehicle prototypes.

The vehicle, which has been called e-Salzillo, with few modifications fail prototype body with which he participated in the 2010, then with the internal combustion engine to ethanol.

All other systems were renewed car: energy sources are now electric batteries, electric motor and also have introduced a number of improvements in the mechanical and other systems (transmission, wheels, steering, etc..) auxiliaries.

The presentation was held at the Faculty of Chemistry with the assistance of the President of the University, José Antonio Cobacho, and the president of the Regional Federation of Metal Industry (FREMM), Juan Antonio Muñoz, sponsoring body of the vehicle.
