25 years teaching school to be responsible drivers and pedestrians (28/04/2014)

"My safety is education" is the motto of the Week XXV anniversary commemorative contest

From tomorrow until next Tuesday, May 6, the City celebrates the week of Memorial Competition Road Accident Prevention and Education, this course reaches its twenty-fifth anniversary.

Almost 225,000 children have learned Murcia become better users of public roads, either as a driver, pedestrian or traveler, through their participation in this educational program.

Of these, 104,804 schoolchildren in 5th grade have been involved in road safety education activities from year 1985 to 1986;

83,837 youth 3rd grade secondary have competed in the contest of driver education since it launched in 1989/90;

and about 86,000 students have benefited from extracurricular activities.

The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, accompanied by Council of Education and Traffic, Lola Sanchez and Javier Iniesta, respectively, this morning scheduled activities, which start tomorrow at 11 am, the conference will offer Violeta Perez Manso , Head of Educational Institutions Unit of the Directorate General of Traffic of the Ministry of Interior, in the Pavilion Hall of the University of Murcia in the Artillery Barracks.

Education road safe for all ages

The City developed since 1985, a driver education program aimed at schools, understanding that the proper use of public roads is ua more plot citizen behavior and road safety education must be basic and guarantee road seguirdad.

The program is developed in different areas:

- Located in the Garden of Palms, the Children's Traffic Park, commissioned in 1985, is aimed at students in grades 5 of the 162 primary schools in the municipality.

It has a theoretical phase, in which three local policemen lectures taught driver education, practice and a second phase, with interactive games and circuits on the slopes.

- Secondary schools are participating in the Competition Driver Education and Accident Prevention.

In theory, it is about driving rules, traffic signs and first aid.

- Students in early childhood education, aged between 1 and 6 years, also active driver education, consisting of identifying sounds, look both ways in a crosswalk, pedestrian signals, etc..
