24 people using the center of the Association of Relatives and Friends of People with Autism and other Developmental Disorders of the Region of Murcia have a new room multisensory stimulation that today was opened by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara.
During his visit to the facility, on this morning, it was accompanied by the president of Afapade and other members of the board, plus Councilwoman Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, head of the Social Welfare and Health.
The residence, located on the Avenida de la Victoria, in Fleet, is the only one in the city of Murcia with these features.
Your room can offer a multi-sensory stimulation therapy through the senses of benefiting both 23 users staying in the residence as a young but comes in solitary respite.
With these sessions, in which the protagonists are the senses and, through them, the feelings and emotions they arouse, experimentation, recreational enjoyment, relationship, communication and integration is favored.
The Association of Relatives and Friends of People with Autism and other Developmental Disorders of the Region of Murcia opened this facility in 2004 to provide respite care and since 2008 also offers the possibility of going in residence.
The center serves people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders and offers support and advice to families, residence and respite in the afternoon, weekends, holiday periods and school holidays.
AFAPADE was created in 1994 by the concern of parents, families and professionals need to be able to offer these people the services they need to gradually achieve the highest possible levels of social, communicative and emotional standards, enhancing personal autonomy in all areas of your personality.
