José Hurtado Mena recreates a "friendly day" Festival Poster Murcia Three Cultures (28/03/2014)

The competition, which this year celebrates its fifteenth edition, is held from 10 to 24 May.

Algerian Samir Inal & Fanfaraï, invited representatives of the country, will open on Saturday musical performances, which first take place in the Plaza Belluga.

The Faculty of Graduate Institute Cascales is incorporated for the first time on stage at the festival.

Around the spring, will be referred Murcia dialogue and tolerance that unites people through culture with the celebration of Murcia Three Cultures International Festival, which this year reaches the fifteenth edition.

The Spaniard José Hurtado Mena artist signature on this occasion the poster, a painting in which recreates the palm, olive and cypress as symbols of this contest.

The work, presented this morning by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, and author, represents, according to the painter, "a nice day", thus creating a canvas Mediterranean light, crowned by the Cresta del Gallo, in which a crossroad that leads us to a medieval farmstead of fertile land, in a time of fruitful tolerance is sensed.

It is, ultimately, a painting where you live the three major monotheistic cultures represented in the nature of their trees.

Born in the district of San Antolin, currently lives and works as an artist in Murcia, where he devoted himself to painting, illustration and design for the realization of the printing industry.

Throughout his career, he has always shown a consistent preference for urban issues.

In addition to receiving numerous awards and citations, Hurtado Mena has participated in various solo and group exhibitions, most recently at the Museum of the City.

Public Spaces

From 10 to 24 May, the International Festival Murcia Three Cultures become the most prominent public spaces of the city, Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, Apostles Square, University Senate, Sun Hydraulics Museum of Mills River, Wall of Veronicas Patio or Santa Clara Museum among others in the agora where will quote figures of different artistic disciplines worldwide.

Some spaces are incorporated for the first time to all stages of the festival, highlighting the Faculty of Graduate Institute Cascales.

Chamber recalled the double vocation of the festival: "closer to the Mediterranean countries through culture and break down barriers between people reiterating a call for coexistence and tolerance through dialogue."

The Mayor has advanced to Algeria, one of the most emblematic of the Muslim culture and has already been present in previous years countries will star in this issue and bring it to his raï music festival, typical country style, similar to what representing hip-hop to rap to Americans or Westerners.

"Pearls of raï" is the title of the concert that opens the music section, which, for the first time, also takes place in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, like the closing concert, to offer the highest capacity possible.

The Festival is organized by the city of Murcia and is sponsored Cajamurcia Foundation, Social Work Caja Mediterráneo and Truth, as well as the collaboration of Iberdrola, El Corte Ingles, Cerveza Estrella Levante Foundation and the University of Murcia .
