The University of Murcia sells books editorial benefit of people with rare diseases (26/03/2014)

The University of Murcia held from April 1 to May 8 a solidarity campaign to sell books from its publishing background (Editum) and devote the proceeds to the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases (FEDER).

In total, will go on sale about a thousand works prices ranging between one and five euros.

Sixty student volunteers will be responsible for the sale of the books will be distributed in three outlets: a table on campus and two in Merced campus Espinardo (north and south).

The books are mostly research papers has been editing the Publications Service since 1954, when he began his activity with Professor Antonio Martínez Soler as first director.

The campaign, which will include those days another blood donation, along with a photo exhibition in the Faculty of Law and a roundtable disclosure of rare diseases, was presented today at the Rector of the University.

ERDF president, Juan Carrion, who has announced that the proceeds will be donated to the service information and guidance to the families of the Federation, thanked the involvement of the University of Murcia in the initiative.

For its part, the rector, José Antonio Cobacho, stressed that the most important of this action is the awareness of young people about the reality of rare diseases.

He has also praised the work of the Publications Service and Attention to Diversity and Volunteerism, whose directors, Conrado and Ana Millán Navalón, respectively, were present at the event.
