"The Spanish have a high rate of factors uncontrolled cardiovascular risk" (25/03/2014)

· The cardiovascular risk is the most frequent predictor of death and cardiovascular complications

The director of the Department of Cardiovascular Risk UCAM Jose Abellan, along with teachers and teacher Enrique Ortín partner Antonio Cejudo, participated in the drafting of the new guide 'prescription of exercise in patients with cardiovascular risk' published by the Spanish Society of Hypertension and will be presented as part of the National Congress of Hypertension on 26 March in Madrid.

"We are missing a very important role in the control of these diseases tool because exercise is not prescribing with scientific criteria," says Abellan.

The guide is an update of the previous edition, dated 2010.

In it, besides the three teachers UCAM, teachers have worked at the University of Toledo, Castilla La Mancha and UMU.

"The guide reviews" continues Abellan, "the general aspects of exercise prescription, as the types, intensity, duration, frequency or volume. Recommendations also reviews and analyzes the personalized prescription hypertensive, obese, diabetic, elderly ... ".

The guide will be presented during the National Congress of Hypertension, "an ideal and appropriate framework" as José Abellan.

"We'll be wrapped up by the large crowd that this event is: more than three thousand participants," he says.

The guide is supported by the Spanish Society of Hypertension and all regional companies this disease in Spain.

In addition, during the congress UCAM teachers taught a training exercise on prescription, which is due to attend almost five hundred professionals.

Few infarcted in Spain

"Our country ranks low in the international context of incidence of myocardial infarction," says José Abellan.

"The future medium-term outlook is not encouraging, as we are witnessing a dramatic increase in childhood and adolescent obesity and addiction to snuff young girls."

However, despite these contraindications, the professor of the UCAM states that "the paradox that we have a high rate of uncontrolled cardiovascular risk factors but maintain a low incidence of infarcted occurs."

Advice

Nobody doubts the benefits that physical exercise contributes to the health of people, with adequate practice critical to maintaining and improving the living conditions of something.

In this sense, José Abellan emphasizes the need to carry out physical exercise, but always correctly.

"The exercise begins to provide benefits when performed at higher intensity of 40% of maximum heart rate. Periodicity of your practice should preferably daily, but at least three days a week in sessions of 30 to 60 minutes."

In addition to physical exercise, noted that "it is necessary to introduce healthy habits in our children and support the use of a heart-healthy diet like the Mediterranean. A good diet and regular exercise provide the most effective way to protect our cardiovascular system complications as ".
