Murcia Mayor and member of the National Board of the Bicycle, Miguel Angel House, has delivered this morning to the Deputy Secretary of Electoral Organization and the Popular Party, Carlos Floriano, proposals to promote the use of bicycles in the EU, the platform will reach all Spanish political parties to include them in their programs for the forthcoming European elections.
The proposals, submitted last week, covering different aspects that will contribute to a better and greater use of the bicycle for urban travel by citizens.
Among them, the VAT reduction, the promotion of intermodality, the creation of a European register, preferential treatment to cycling, changes in traffic regulations and educational laws, implementation of the City 30 or measures to increase the security.
The MNB, formed last year, brings together more than 200 cities, associations of daily users, cyclists, cycling enthusiasts and sports professionals as well as business and lawyers interested in the bike.
It consists of the-chaired feint by the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, which groups 100 cities and agencies of transportation that promote their cities the presence of bicycles in the city Network Cities for; Coordinator ConBici, encompassing 54 entities of bicycle users, the Enterprise Platform Bike (PEB), which promotes the bicycle business, the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation, which represents together with the Association of Professional Cyclists (ACP) cyclist sports sector , the Association of Manufacturers and Bicycles Spain (AMBE) that brings together and represents the 30 leading distributors and manufacturers of cycling sector, and Network Ciclojuristas, large cast of lawyers committed to the bicycle.
Meeting at the IDEA
Moreover, House has held this morning a meeting with Isabel del Olmo, head of the Department of Transportation of the Institute for Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDEA), who has examined possible ways of collaboration between the agency and Network of Cities for Bicycle, currently chaired by the Mayor of Murcia.
Among the issues discussed on the agreement that would address the consolidation of bicycle use in the school road and commuting, the push for electric bike or the future development of a national barometer on the perception and use is this vehicle in Spain.
