Five students from the University of Murcia participate in the championship of Spain school and college Cross Country (21/02/2014)

Pilar Duarte Garcia is second year student of Biology; Marina third Lucas García studied Business Administration and Management and Javier Sánchez Romero, sophomore Degree in Medicine are the veterans.

All three participated in the 2013 edition of the Championship of Spain and University School Cross Country.

In the 2014 edition accompany them Siles Sergio Fernandez, who attended first Physiotherapy and Francisco Garcia Dionisio Serrano freshman of Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport.

It is the contribution of the University of Murcia these championships Cross Country to be held on Sunday 23 February in Móstoles and where is expected appointment den over 700 athletes representing the Autonomous Communities and Universities by competing .

The team from the University of Murcia, with several representatives of the Sports, were received Thursday by the Vice Chancellor of University Extension and eGovernment, who was interested in testing and made them explicit commitment of the University of Murcia with sport, giving them encouragement in their participation.

Athletes referred to the hardness of the sport is practiced sometimes almost extreme conditions: "Last year tells Javier-test was very hard, cold, muddy ...".

But this is something that seems to daunt these student-athletes accustomed to strive to the limit.

In general, do not succeed to explain why their motivations combine their studies with the training and testing of a sport that is generally done in solitude and that is extremely hard, but everyone is aware of one thing: they find it rewarding, " especially competitions are very encouraging, "says Pilar with the acquiescence of all.

And what comes to mind when you run, how that loneliness runner bout?

Javier is clear: just get carried away: "When I go running I do not think about anything What is true adds is that this is a hobby that I have, that I like and that helps me to relieve pressure.".

Despite its youth, the majority spent many years training and competing, then started at an early age.

This is the case of Marina and Sergio, who started with 6 and 7 years with his older brothers.

Pilar, however is the exception, having started such a "late" age as 17.

Something that did not stop him, however, finishing second in last San Silvestre de Murcia.

Another thing they agree on is that the sport has helped them in their studies, giving them a plus, motivation and exercise capacity.

"Sometimes it's difficult, especially when it comes ground to train, get to school, but it is a way to clear your head. I believe that the failure to train, to physically push myself, helped me a lot in performance exams and be more willing to study. "

"You learn to take advantage of more time Pilar said. Yeah you have less time you are forced to make the most of."

Think something Sergio, that ensures a great run comes to rest between two periods of study: "It is a way to forget some of the subject and get new strength to continue studying."

In any case, there is one thing we all agree: despite his ongoing struggle to get off the clock and improve their own brands, despite the constant effort, as Sergio says to the assent of the rest: "Studies are always ahead. "

Not least because as acknowledged-"have far more outlets than sports competitions."
