The City of Murcia teaches yoga to youth at risk of educational exclusion (19/02/2014)

The City of Murcia offers yoga classes to young people between 16 and 18 who drop out of compulsory education.

A practice that falls within the area of ​​sport and physical activity of the students who are part of the Vocational Training Program.

This practice promotes attention span and concentration on learning.

After assessing the effects of yoga in young people showed that most, despite not having heard much of this technique and get the wrong idea, consider the experience has been very enriching them.

Through a questionnaire was observed how the students had gotten correct posture and feel calm if breathing calms the mind, coming to relax and unwind for a while about their problems.

Many young people experience an early abandonment of their studies, either by lack of motivation and low self-concept, or family and personal difficulties.

There are also some with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

Therefore get going activities like yoga, a technique that acts on the body, mind and education exercises, improving posture and muscle coporal system.

Changes that also affect breathing capacity and get reassure practitioners.

At present about 150 youth in the municipality participating in such programs get pass the course and get certified as professional assistants or operators of hairdressing, beauty, retail and warehouse, vehicle maintenance, welding, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen electricity and electricity networks.

The aim is to provide another avenue of learning and training to ensure their future.
