The doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia by Christina Schwarz used the adaptive optics technology to achieve a better understanding of the influence of aberrations on binocular vision.
To this end, the author of the research, cum laude with distinction rated, designed and built a binocular adaptive optics visual simulator able to precisely control the complex pupil function in both eyes simultaneously.
The system is based on the use of liquid crystal spatial modulators, allowing a high resolution pupil conjugate planes to manipulate the amplitude and phase of the eyes independently.
The thesis has been directed by the director of the Laboratory of Optics of Murcia educational institution, Professor Pablo Artal.
