The city of Murcia has successfully completed the restoration of the sculpture reminiscent José María Muñoz and Bass Mengíbar, a wealthy philanthropist who distributed much of his fortune among the victims of the terrible flood of Santa Teresa, in 1879.
Such was the assistance provided to the affected huertanos, which decided to erect a statue in his memory the cost was paid by public subscription.
The work is currently located at the end of the Malecon, which occupies the site following transfer from Camachos Square, which opened on March 19, 1889.
Cast in bronze casting Roviralta in Santander, in recent years the patina had deteriorated, preventing the piece shone in its original format.
Restoration work also allowed to check and reinforce the attachment of the sculpture to its base.
With regard to this part of the piece, made of stone and brick, will proceed to give you a antigrafitti treatment.
