2000 ways to paint peace (29/01/2014)

2,000 jobs have presented elementary students 12 schools in the municipality to the third edition of the drawing competition organized by the city to mark the International Day of Peace.

The initiative is promoted by the Department of Political Equality and Development Cooperation, directed Alicia Barquero, sponsored by the Cajamar Foundation.

The Mayor delivered this morning the prizes to the winners in various categories, which have included school supplies for students, including several boxes of colors, markers, crayons, drawing sheets and pens, plus framing the work of each award .

The event was also attended by the responsible of Social Welfare and Health, María del Carmen Pelegrin, and Education, Lola Sanchez and José Joaquín Martínez Ortiz, Commercial Director of Cajamar.

The contest aims to promote creation and artistic expression and to bring children education values, especially non-violence, peace, tolerance and respect for human rights.

The School Day of Peace and Nonviolence is commemorated each year on 30 January 1964 from the initiative of the Mallorcan poet and pacifist Llorenç Vidal Vidal and coincides with the anniversary of Gandhi's death.

The contest invited to design an ideal world under the slogan "All are needed," going for it the elements considered necessary to achieve it.

2,000 jobs were submitted by students from schools:

- CEIP José Rubio Gomariz (head of Torres)

- CEIP Cristo del Valle (Torreagüera)

- CEIP Andrés Baquero (Murcia)
