Hall and "la Caixa" boost a plan to combat child poverty last year served 2,300 children (22/01/2014)

The objective of the program is to break CaixaProinfancia transmission of social insecurity in families.

2,298 children from 1,491 families Murcia vulnerable were treated last year by CaixaProinfancia program, which works with the aim to break the transmission of poverty from parents to children, encouraging the development of a healthy and happy childhood.

During 2013, the plan had a budget of 1.8 million euros, which this year will increase by 84,000 euros to extend it to Santiago and Zaraíche and Cabeza de Torres.

Since it was introduced in 2007 it has served 11,121 children and 6,137 families in Murcia.

The program, which has the support of seven social entities (Columbares Coordinator Barrios, Copedeco, FEAPS and Gypsy Secretariat), coordinated by Caritas and CEPAIM, was launched for the first time in 2007 to meet the needs of households with children between 0 and 16 or at risk of social exclusion.

It is attempting to break the "vicious circle" of poverty and its transmission from generation to generation and to this end it is proposed to strengthen the work with family, school and community, trying to ensure that, despite the difficulties, have open to a better future and enjoy the same opportunities as other door.

The agreement states that "la Caixa" Foundation and the City identify and analyze the situations of social vulnerability and risk of exclusion affecting children and families who require care beyond to specific needs, a comprehensive approach to performance.

This leads to the development of a work plan with the whole family, with five major lines: educational support, psychosocial formal education and leisure, family educational support, care and therapy and health promotion.

CaixaProinfancia addition, both companies have also extended their cooperation to the renewal of the program "CiberCaixa.

Let's meet after class, "which provides resources and recreational and educational activities and the integration of communication technologies in spaces that meet after school hours to children from families with problems of reconciling work and family life.

The project, aimed at children aged 3 to 12 years, saw participation of 220 children last year.
