Facilitate and foster care first humanitarian necessities to people or immigrant families, adopting measures to enable their social integration, covering basic needs (residence, health, education, maintenance and support services offering for adaptation) is a priority objective of Murcia City Hall.

Since 1993, the city of Murcia has been working and supporting social initiatives that are taking place from the Diocesan Caritas Association Murcia, which include the development of projects such as "Shelter and care of children" and "Housing shelters for immigrants", where they paid particular attention to children.

We have already carried out the renovation of the collaboration with the Diocesan Caritas Association Murcia for further progress in the projects mentioned above.

Under this agreement, the City of Murcia provide the amount of 195,000 euros to contribute to Caritas Murcia continue carrying out such projects.

With the subsidy intended the city of Murcia, over 600 people (children and immigrants) get help from the actions carried out by the association throughout 2008.

The actions set out in CAYAM project, Shelter and care of children are:

- Development of children and families by raising awareness of the importance of incorporating children to school.

- Development of skills that enable coexistence and respect proper active integration into the school and social environment from their own cultural identity.

- Create a reference affective space for children where their basic needs, training, food, entertainment and affection.

- Encourage families to see the importance of having their children attend school regularly, in order to eradicate truancy.
