The food industry has been one of the great strengths of Murcia in the past and, along with tourism, is called to remain so in the future.
As stated by the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, at the close of the general assemblies of Agrupal and the National Technology Center for Canning and Food, which were held this morning.
During the event the business organization, which in 2014 will celebrate its 90th anniversary, has been awarded the Gold Badge Dasí Joseph, head of the English Court of Murcia, and Estrella Levante, while José Miguel Cascales has received the appointment as Honorary Member of the CTC.
In his brief speech, Miguel Angel House has expressed its gratitude to the food companies because of them "Murcia is known around the world" and has indicated its role as key leaders in the business sector.
In this regard, it should be noted that the sector to employ about 20,000 people and is responsible for 35% of exports from the region.
The event, held this morning, was chaired by Juan Bernal, Vice President of Regional Government, José García Gómez, president of Agrupal, and Jose Maria Albarracin, president Croem.
