The San Eloy University Association named Honorary Chaplain Bishop Lorca Planes (28/11/2013)

Students and teachers of the Faculty of History of Art at the University of Murcia have held this morning the feast of St. Eloy, the patron of goldsmiths and jewelers.

At 10:00 hours began in the church of La Merced, the Eucharist presided by the Bishop of Cartagena, the onset of which took place in the academic ceremony who have given various awards, including the Chaplain Honor the San Eloy University Association Bishop Lorca Planes.

The bishop thanked this appointment and made a semblance of San Eloy, how he was a great master goldsmith, but which particularly stressed that "his heart shone far more than gold and silver working."

Students have been asked to remain transmitters beauty through art, "I invite you to enter into the mystery of who is the author of beauty, our Lord and let God speak to you as well."

Each year the educational institution organizes a series of activities that serve to remembrance, tribute and dissemination of the feast of San Eloy and that was a major in the region of Murcia profession.

So this celebration aims to recall the ancient tradition Silversmiths Guild, whose big day is celebrated, coinciding according to tradition, the previous Thursday December 1.

After the Eucharist, Art students and teachers have participated in the procession in memory of the route that once were artisans to the church of San Bartolomé, where the image of San Francisco Salzillo Eloy work remains.
