The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Catholic University of San Antonio (UCAM) have signed a cooperation agreement to restore the stature of Christ the Healer, the Church of San Juan de Dios de Murcia.

Thanks to this agreement, the UCAM bear the costs of recovery of the figure, amounting to 30,000 euros, and the Ministry, through the Center for Restoration of the Region, will oversee the work.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, who signed the agreement today with Ucam president, José Luis Mendoza, thanked the academic institution their "commitment to the culture and society of the region", for your patronage in the restoration of this size, calling it "one of the great challenges that remain to art history, restoration and conservation in the history of Murcia".

Cruz stressed that this Christ is in a condition "very precarious" and that this will be the first restoration "in depth".

The figure, according to the Minister of Culture, "is a puzzle from the historiographical point of view" because of the difficulty of calibrating his own, but can be dated to the late Gothic period.
