Murcia City Council allocated 9,000 euros to send humanitarian aid to children affected by Typhoon Haiyan-Yolanda in the Philippines.

The aid was sent through Unicef ​​Foundation, which is working in the country.

Councilmember Equality Policy and Development Cooperation, Alicia Waterman, has this morning signed a collaboration agreement with Maria Consolacion Salinas Sanchez, secretary of the Board of UNICEF Regional Committee of Murcia, to enforce the aid to the Philippines.

UNICEF is developing the project 'Responding to the needs of children affected by Typhoon Haiyan-Yolanda to ensure potablel access to water, sanitation and shelter and the provision of essential drugs to prevent deterioration of mortality rates prior to the Emergency '.

Primarily, kits are distributed water, sanitation, hygiene, soaps, baby equipment, and work in raising awareness about hygiene and water conservation, and transportation and distribution of materials.

In addition, UNICEF provides medicine, food, tarpaulins, tents and are working to identify children who are alone, intenando family reunification.
