Spanish is the only Mayor involved as a speaker at both meetings

Murcia's experience in water management, the application of new technologies to improve the quality of life in cities and energy efficiency are the three areas in which the Mayor will speak next week at two events held in India and China, who comes invited by the European Commission.

The first of these meetings was held Monday in Mumbai, organized by the town council, in collaboration with the European Union, to exchange experiences and improved approaches to local management.

House has been invited to participate in this conference to bring the vision of the capital to the challenges of urban policy and, especially, to present the experience of the Covenant of Mayors, which Murcia joined in 2008, becoming the first Spanish city, along with Madrid, to formalize its incorporation.

Also, Murcia also pioneered in bringing the Covenant outside the European Union, specifically Morocco.

Besides House, is expected to attend this event general manager of DG ENER (DG Energy) of the European Commission, Pedro Ballesteros, and other senior representatives of the European Union and capital like Stockholm, Paris, London , Riga, Helsinki or Lyon.

Subsequently, on Thursday 21, Mayor intervene as a speaker at the EU & China, setting forth the challenges and opportunities of the Smart Cities and more specifically, the bet made by Murcia for the application of new technologies for building of a more sustainable city, leadership in energy efficiency, especially with Smart Spaces-projects, water management, waste utilization or network work, programs that develop between different cities, taking advantage of synergies and experiences of each.

Among other personalities, is scheduled as speakers also Vice President of the European Commission and other senior representatives of this institution, and the mayors of Milan, Le Havre (France), Gothenburg, Pisa, or Bristol, among others.
