The creation of the International Chair for the study of Jewish Holocaust was recently announced by the president of the UCAM, Jose Luis Mendoza, during the meeting he held on the campus of Los Jeronimos with the director in Latin America, Spain and Portugal's' Museum Holocaust memorial ', Pearl Hazan, who is also the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord 2007.
Jose Luis Mendoza stressed that through this Chair, a group of professors at the Catholic University next summer investigate several thousands of documents related to the Holocaust.
The Office of Research will coordinate the work carried out by the Catholic teachers in the Holy Land.
This new chair comes as a result of the official visit made by President of the UCAM to this museum last July by the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Cardinal Antonio Cañizares, and President Foundation Don Juan de Borbon Spain-Israel, Sadia Cohen.
Note that the Museum Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem, whose name is 'Yad Yashem', which means in Hebrew "memory and name", is the leading institution in the study, research and documentation on the Holocaust and has the largest repository of information on this subject.
