UPyD Murcia reiterates that "the ordinance passed is an aesthetic resource that does not solve the problem of prostitution" (04/11/2013)

José Antonio Sotomayor says that "what they are going to offer people who engage in prostitution with this booklet is a directory of phones that go like any other citizen," as the standard "non-specific response to these people since there is no specific resource created, there is nothing new "

Councilman Union Progress and Democracy in the city of Murcia, José Antonio Sotomayor, reiterates that the ordinance passed "is merely an aesthetic appeal that does not solve the problem", after the press conference presentation by the government team to a brochure explanatory aimed at people involved in prostitution.

For the mayor, "what they are going to offer people who engage in prostitution with this booklet is a directory of phones that go like any other citizen."

As explained Sotomayor, "offered no specific answer for these people, there is no specific resource created, there is nothing new".

To UPyD Murcia, "unfortunately and as we feared the ordinance as it is approved due more to the existing social alarm in the neighborhood to try to respond and fix the problem."

"With this ordinance to persons engaged in prostitution we are given no alternative to abandon this practice, not a single" remarks Sotomayor.

To form the standard magenta on prostitution should be framed within a Comprehensive Plan against Sexual Exploitation, with an adequate budget to carry out actions in education and social intervention in order to "pose a real possibility for social integration persons engaged in prostitution "as asked UPyD and did not accept the government team.

"From the first minute of its launch this ordinance would have to be part of a Municipal Plan" which includes other measures against prostitution and human trafficking, "so it does not remain a mere declaration of intent, no concrete measures no specific plans to give a real departure "for women in prostitution.

"No actions planned or raised transverse and multidisciplinary" in education, in both sexual equality, awareness and social intervention, recovery and reintegration socio staff "for people who wish to leave prostitution can really do."
