The municipal groups PSOE, IU-Greens and UPyD present a joint initiative with the intention that the full City Council of Murcia ask the Directorate General of Culture to initiate the proceedings to allow their preservation as historic garden as it is "a sign of identity of the city and an area of great importance within the urban landscape "

The three opposition groups in the city of Murcia, PSOE, IU-Green and Union Progress and Democracy, presented a joint initiative with the intention that the Consistory plenary ask the Directorate General of Culture to initiate the record on which the statement as a Cultural (BIC) of the Garden of Floridablanca.

For the three political groups this initiative is motivated by the historical significance of the park, "which has been part of the lives of many Murcia for generations, being a hallmark of the city and an important space in the urban landscape" .

As explained by opposition politicians, Jose Zapata, Ignacio Tornel and Jose Antonio Sotomayor, this statement BIC is supported by the 'Technical guide conservation and restoration of ancient and historic gardens in the Region of Murcia', whose publication has helped the Department of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets, and wherein one of the gardens studied is precisely this space.

In this guide, we study the characteristics of historical parks worldwide according to criteria established by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS, its acronym in English), an advisory body of UNESCO for all matters related to the landscape.

Also be noted that within the perimeter of the garden, and the monument to the Count of Floridablanca, other monuments such as those devoted to the poets José Selgas and Pedro Jara Carrillo, the latter carved by Jose Plans.

Another of the elements of the physiognomy of it is the cover of the old slaughterhouse of Murcia designed by architect Jaime Bort in 1748 and was previously located in the Plaza de la Paja.

It was on the initiative of the mayor of Murcia, José Marín Baldo, the process by which we proceeded to the mall renovation in 1849, transforming it into the space that has survived to this day.
