Street cleaning services has expanded its budget (29/10/2013)

Awareness campaigns will affect the need for the cooperation of citizens to keep clean Murcia |

The total budget of the Department of Urban Cleaning and Waste Management for 2014 amounts to 56,715,959 euros, almost the same as in 2013.

The service is provided on 4,613 km of streets and lanes and 216,500 meters square of municipal buildings.

The Department led by José Ros has made a huge effort to reorganize and services settings, with the same budget as last year, there is no reduction in the quality of services, and in any case, there is a loss of jobs : almost 1000 people are directly employed in these services.

To maintain services implementing a cost containment is implemented a policy of redistribution of means and resources, so that they can perform all essential job with the same budget.

These figures are born from the efforts of the Administration and of the concessionaires, with which it has worked hard to adjust costs while maintaining important and essential public services:

Cleaning, Collection and Treatment

· Rethinking investments in plant and enhancement of solar and wind energy.

· Setting complementary services (cleaning markets botelleo, etc..) Of the extraordinary and disclosure.

As goals this year include:

-Continue with awareness campaigns and request the cooperation of citizens from school, 3rd age and Centers for Women: This year capsize efforts on trying to understand that, without them, we can never have a clean city.

-Provide information on the service, so as to appreciate the professional efforts of all the workers at the service of citizens.

-Finalize Treatment Center facilities.

-Development of selective collection by adjusting the types of containers to actual production: Currently there are 1,150 collection points and the goal is to create 100 more to reach 1,250, the equivalent of a city of 650,000 inhabitants.

- Increase the paper recovery rate to 22 kg / yr, 15.5 kg glass containers per year and 11.5 kg / year.

- Woodland Regeneration Treatment Center Cañada Hermosa and planting trees and shrubs to achieve the objective, in verao 2014, 30,000 trees and shrubs of 40 species.

- Continue producing electricity through gas obtained in the center to produce the equivalent of 6,000 households or 40,000 streetlights, almost half the municipality.

-Providing services in new areas, especially in conservation agencies (resort), who are asking the City Council.

Cleaning municipal buildings:

-Reorganization of the means of production in order to meet the new centers, without incurring additional cost.

-Decrease in the allowance for absenteeism.

All without loss of quality, and with the necessary sustainability of the services provided.

Regarding Cañada Treatment Center, work began in late June of this year 2013.

Its completion is scheduled for next summer.

Currently, civil works and buildings are at 70%, and work has begun assembly of equipment, with an average of over 110 trajadores / day.

Works Treatment Center provide for construction of new plants and other lightweight packaging, handling three lines high automation, sludge drying plant, industrial plant and Bulky Waste Selection (10 Km / hour pallets, furniture, sofas, ...), preparation of solid recovered fuel Biomethanisation (Estrella de Levante), Selection and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (December 3) and Extension of landfill.

Inside Treatment Center should be noted that studies are underway and proposals for optimizing the use of waste, in particular, include the proposal for the synthesis of fuels (oil) by pyrolysis of CSR (Solid Recovered Fuel) , which would allow a stable output of that product, as their customers (cement) have decreased significantly in demand.

Exceed an investment of € 35 million and create more than 50 direct jobs.
