The Contraparada Center opens with a seminar to learn about the flora and fauna of the area (26/10/2013)

The Councillor for the Environment, Adela Martinez-Grip plate, this morning attended the seminar 'Discover Nature in The Contraparada and the River Segura' that has taken place in the new Center for The Contraparada, whose management has been recently donated by the Confederation Segura Hydrographic city of Murcia.

This seminar, which was attended by 30 people, has led to the first environmental activity that will use the center, and will be devoted to study wildlife, vegetation and ecological characteristics of this area of ​​the river Segura.

The High Dam, also known as The Contraparada and located in the hamlet of New Javalí, is one of the most important elements of traditional heritage Hydraulic Region of Murcia, and retaining excellent ecological environment, including recently detected the presence of otter in this stretch of river adjacent to the city of Murcia.

The seminar, which has covered all places, has had teachers belonging to the Association of Southeast Naturalists and forms part of the Environmental Awareness Information and the Department of Environment.

This program is scheduled for the period from September to December, the celebration of fifteen activities (seminars, guided tours and municipal environmental volunteer activities) with which it aims to promote information, awareness and environmental awareness of the population of the municipality offering a wide range of topics in which alternatives are open to all interested persons.

The next activity in this center will be on Saturday November 16 and will be a workshop of flint.
