Social Services will increase by over 100% emergency aid destined for needy families in the county (25/10/2013)

Provide better services and improve the welfare of needy citizens is the foundation that supports the budget of the Department of Social Welfare and Health, directed by María del Carmen Pelegrin, for next year 2014.

The total amount by which the Department will be of 25,327,131 euros, 4.10% more than in the current year.

Social Services

Undoubtedly, the most significant increase occurs in the line to Emergency Financial Assistance for the care of the social needs of families, which increased by one million euros, compared to 2013, in which they requested, to date, more than 2,800 have been approved aid and far aid amounting to more than EUR 1,700,000.

The allocation for 2014 has been increased to 2013, to ensure social needs and to ensure coverage of the basic needs of its members: food, rent, etc..

The maintenance and consolidation of programs continue to be offered to the public has been and will remain objective to the Department.

SOCIAL WELFARE

Despite the disappearance of other government funding over the current year, the city of Murcia will continue to keep all care and aged care, at the same levels of quality achieved, in order to continue provide the Service Home Care, Family Respite, Home Delivered Meals and Telecare, the City made to this special and important budgetary effort.

In the case of Home Care Service provides care for more than 1,800 users and 3,000 beneficiaries in their various family units, with an average 370,000 annual hours of service.

For Telecare Service, not only maintained but improved its current quality levels expanding the installation of fire-smoke detectors, gas, mobility and falls for service recipients that their level of independence so require.

They serve more than 3,000 beneficiaries with an annual average of 10,000 interventions.

75,000 menus are dispensed through the Meals on Wheels service with over 250 users.

They keep the services for people with disabilities, both through Bonotaxi aid as Collaboration Agreements and grants to organizations for support in developing their annual activity projects.

Bonotaxi aid will be awarded more than 195 people and more than 20 subsidized entities disabilities through various cooperation agreements and grants.

Likewise be maintained all the major activities for partners in the Social Centres for the Elderly 76 township (gerontogimnasia, training courses, clubs, physiotherapy service, cultural tours, daily newspapers and other recreational and cultural activities and direct grants to assist in their annual programs of activities) and the maintenance of infrastructure, construction, equipment, furniture and facilities expenses themselves.

Thus, around 700,000 euros earmarked for the development of activities with over 35,000 associates at 76 major centers in the municipality.

The total cost of maintenance of Social Centres for the Elderly amount to 2.2 million euros.

Investments in this service will be to reform the social centers and replacement of facilities and equipment (over 745,000 euros).

HEALTH

The department's budget for next year will be devoted primarily to the maintenance of all programs of health promotion and services provided to citizens, while maintaining the subsidies provided for prevention and promotion health by associations and municipal plan derived Drug Dependence.

Respect educational programs promoting health, conducted in 2012, involving 137 schools, with more than 15,000 school, Primary and Secondary, and about 800 teachers and parents.

Respect investment, 500,000 will be spent next year to further improve the facilities of the municipal cemetery (niches repair, wall repair, storm evacuation and rehabilitation of cemeteries) and also take action in peripheral clinics network with more 200,000 euros.

The development of all programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Health hosts a total number of persons employed outside amounting to more than 650.
