Eustory rewards the sixth edition of its Youth Contest History (18/10/2013)

The Contest Eustory Spain, organized since 2007 by the Royal Cavalry of Ronda, offered in its sixth year students from 14 to 21 years investigating under "My family in history": an invitation to a family member linking environment local historical event of significance.

The winners of this year 2012-2013 will be recognized and rewarded in the Ceremony XVI Scholarships and Awards to be held on Saturday, October 19, in the Library of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda.

The event will be chaired by Mr

Jorge Edwards Valdés, Chilean ambassador, writer and 1999 Cervantes Prize.

The first prize of € 2,000, goes to work - The voice of memory-of Andrés, Javier and Rafael Jiménez Montoya, IES students Távoras Commander Juan de Puertollano, Ciudad Real.

A family history magazine format through the eyes of Luis Zamora Martin, uncle of the authors, in which he examines the period from the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera to democracy today.

Two second prizes of € 1,000 each, were awarded to the work - The American adventure, Peter Street South American migration Codes and early twentieth century from La Rioja to Chile - Sofia Alice Forges Rubio and Juan Enrique Rubio, San Mateo students of IES and IES Cervantes in Madrid and - Oral history.

Giving voice to the voiceless - Bartlomiej Kokot, student of IES Floridablanca Murcia.

Jobs that attest to creativity and intelligence critical to reflect on the impact of family migration Rioja family to Chile in the early twentieth century, the first, or oral history that compares the life of a Polish citizen and Spanish from the thirties until the final years of the twentieth century, the second.

Finally a third prize of € 500, to work - Matthew Duran Terminals: Cavite Hero - by Maria del Carmen Garcia Paez, a student of the College Company of Mary of San Fernando, Cádiz.

Analyzing a historical period that begins in the reign of Elizabeth II to end in 1898, through the biography of his great-grandfather, Matthew Duran, who died in the Battle of Cavite.

Some of the winners will be selected to participate in the Academies of History organized Eustory network.

In these, students can discuss relevant issues of the past and present in different European cities of our continent.

During the 2013 Spanish six students have participated in the academies held in Helsinki (Finland) - about building a nation, Finland, after a civil war and the First World War, in Ronda under the title Images of another: building and , deconstructing stereotypes and Ljubljana (Slovenia) The end of empires: new frontiers, new states, new loyalties.

In a few days we will launch the 7th edition of the Youth Contest Eustory History.
