"We must preserve the welfare state paradigm: health" (09/10/2013)

San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia has celebrated the day Wednesday health management 'The directors and management of the crisis', in which several managers have participated hospitals in Murcia and Alicante, as well as the managing director of the Servicio Murciano Health, José Antonio Alarcon, and President of the Spanish Society of Healthcare Managers, Joaquín Estévez, among others.

The day has consisted mainly of a panel which has served to exchange thoughts on the situation in the health sector in the context of economic recession.

In this sense, José Antonio Alarcon said that "this crisis has a deep draft, not cyclical. Have to change things and make decisions."

He also highlighted the importance of health to society, saying that the sector "we are not collecting offices, health offer. Should be preserved this paradigm of the welfare state."

For his part, President of the Spanish Society of Healthcare Managers, Joaquín Estévez, noted that the health sector has suffered a decline in income due to the crisis and that this amount is less than what is needed.

He also highlighted the value of leadership within health manager's work, which is enhanced training at the Master's Degree in Management and Planning of Health Services offered by the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia and has hosted the celebration of this day.

Mariano Guerrero, Director of the Department of Health Management, UCAM, has advocated the need for a structural change of the health model, stating that the current "has been topped because of the crisis."

Joining them on the table have participated Juan Antonio Marques, Carlos Arenas, Ramon Navarro and José María Cerezo, health managers of hospitals Marina Baixa, Vega Baja, Vinalopo and Queen Sofia, respectively, and Jose Luis Albarracin, deputy director of Specialized Assistance Murcia Health Service.
