The Civil Guard on Sunday celebrated the feast of its patron saint, the Virgen del Pilar, a military ceremony that amadrinó Her Majesty Queen Sofia, and in which awards were delivered to military and civilian personnel.
Among them, the president of the UCAM San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia, José Luis Mendoza, who was one of the honored with the Silver Cross of Merit, the highest honor a civilian can receive from the hands of the Civil Guard.
"I'm happy, for me the important thing is to serve and be useful to society," said Mendoza, whose university has agreements with the Civil Guard to train agents.
"The collaboration we are providing to the state security bodies is very important. Carry out postgraduate training programs in Criminology, Safety Science, etc..".
In this sense, UCAM president said he was "very happy and grateful for the award, which is recognition for the institution I represent."
During the ceremony, also attended by Interior Minister, Jorge Fernandez Diaz, a parade is composed of different corps of the Guardia Civil, and the very delivery of civilians and military distinctions.
"I was impressed to see mourn the widow and the young daughters of a policeman killed in the line of duty," said Jose Luis Mendoza.
