First visit subject to the Church of the Augustinian Monastery of Murcia (05/10/2013)

On Saturday morning, it was the first visit made subject to the Augustinian Church of Murcia, as one of the activities the Cathedral Museum launches for the month of October.

The charge of guiding the visit has been the head coach of the Cathedral Museum, D.

Francis Joy, who explained that this temple is a "celebration of the Eucharist in defense of the Catholic faith", because its construction was in full defense of Catholicism against Lutheranism.

The Church of Corpus Christi, in which are buried three bishops and two sisters in the process of beatification, is rich allegorical wall paintings, a large sculptural heritage, including works by Francisco Salzillo and Roque Lopez.

Every Saturday in October will make this visit for the price of 6 euros, with prior reservation at the front desk of the Museum or by calling 968 219 713.

Also during this month will be exhibited in the Museum's Bishop Chasuble Diego de Rojas Contreras, a fabric of mid-eighteenth century, the first part of the Royal Silk Factory Talavera de la Reina and example of the richness of the liturgical vestments cathedral sacristy.

About this conference will focus chasuble D.

Manuel Pérez Sánchez, professor of Art History at the University of Murcia, which will take place on October 23 at 19:30 pm in the Cathedral Museum, with free admission.
