Architecture students win the Special Prize Arquideas (14/08/2013)

The competition, which aims to create a center of cultural exchange through gastronomy, has received more than one hundred student projects worldwide

Grade Students in Architecture from the Catholic University San Antonio of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, Manuel Arnau, Enrique Parra and Antonio Navarro, have been finalists in the International Gastronomic Center, the prestigious jury consists of professionals as the chef and entrepreneur Ferran Adrià or the architect José María de Churtichaga, among others.

In addition the draft UCAM students has been awarded the Special Prize Arquideas, which gives the community Arquideas open vote.

The International Gastronomic Center, sponsored by the management platform Arquideas architectural competitions, brought together students of this discipline in the world, from Canada to Italy, via Poland and Mexico, which have submitted more than a hundred projects to create an area of ​​cultural exchange through gastronomy in which promote research and professional enrichment.

One of them belongs to four students of the Degree in Architecture at the UCAM, Miguel Angel House, Manuel Arnau, Enrique Parra and Antonio Navarro.

"One day we saw the contest and found it interesting to participate. The pity is that, although we had the idea thought we had to do the project with very little time because it coincided with the time of the tests," said Michelangelo.

The project has three blocks for residences, teaching and catering, as well as areas of inspiration from hanging gardens and rooms sensorial experimentation and research.

Despite the short time allowed for the capture work, jury of architects as José María de Churtichaga and Jon Muniategiandikoetxea as well as by chef Ferran Adrià or the blogger Edgar Fernandez, decided that the project was of sufficient quality to be among the top fifteen of this prestigious competition.

In addition, the community decided to grant Arquideas Special Prize to get more votes than the rest of the papers.

The architect and director of the International Chair of the UCAM Mediterranean Gastronomy, Antonio Marqueríe, wanted to highlight the appearance of "this type of thinking and research in a field as exciting as that of Gastronomy. Increasingly, the architect expresses creativity, not only in the field of construction for it, and I congratulate encourage such projects. "
