The "Torch of Friendship" Romea Square lights until next Friday (16/07/2013)

The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, presided over the lighting of the "Torch of Friendship" to Plaza Julian Romea on the occasion of the celebration of 46 International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean.

The event was attended by the Councillor Rafael Gomez and festival director, Manuel Fernández-Delgado, besides the presence as guest of Nomagugu Eunice Majola, Executive Councillor of the South African city of Pietermaritzburg.

After many years, the Festival has changed its date of execution of the Fair, in September, the month of July.

It is a recognition of seniority-is the first of all those found in Spain-and the power of attraction of the event, which this year takes place as a unique celebration of the city, separated from other holiday programs.

From today until next Friday, when it's closed, the flame of the torch preside Romea Square.

Upon completion of the act of ignition occurs interpretation of a dance and a parade through the city of Murcia in all groups participating in this 46th edition are: Grupo Folklorico Virgen de la Vega (Murcia), Geghard Folk Dance Ensemble (Armenia), Grup de Danses de Moncada (Valencia), Folk Group City of Cartagena (Murcia), chloric Fol Storici Grouping contrade Sbandieratori delle di Cori (Italy), Zulu Folklore Dance Ensemble (South Africa), Association of Choirs and Dances Mazantini (Ciudad Real - Spain), Chorus and Dance Group Christ of Mercy (Murcia), Folk Dance Company "Strong Breed Panama" (Panama), Folk Dance Ensemble CAJAVEC (Bosnia Herzegovina) and Songs and Dances of Murcia Association Regional "Francisco Salzillo" (Murcia).

Although until Tuesday has not taken place on the Torch of Friendship, the festival program started on Monday with the opening of three exhibitions: "Corpus of manners Murcia" in the Museum Ramon Gaya, "This blue sea.
