Roque López Square becomes an open space for pedestrians (12/07/2013)

The Department of Urban Quality, directed by Ana Martínez Vidal, has completed the construction of the square Roque Lopez, becoming a completely open space of more than a thousand square meters of green areas and playgrounds.

The transformation of the square is a demand from traders Triangle Association.

Along with Vidal, have visited the area Councillor for Employment, Trade and Business, José María Tortosa, the President of the Triangle Merchants Association, Carmen Piñero, the President of the Neighborhood Association of Murcia, José Luis Marco, and the President District, LA Galindo as well as merchants and neighborhood residents.

Vidal explained that "the City has earned this intervention a space for the enjoyment of pedestrians and aims to boost economic activity of a highly commercial area".

For this, deleted the center lane and parking spaces in the area, keeping those located on the opposite side of the square and creating new parking areas provided for motorcycles, and a handicapped equipped with a ramp attached to facilitate access thereto.

Bicycle parking will be installed soon, defendants primarily by workers of the shops in the area, and new points of light on the perimeter of the planter.

The square, more than a thousand square meters, has a great center fielder over 60 square meters, which have been planted three australis ficus, palm trees and seasonal flowers.

The concrete planter irregularly, has been coated with Jatoba wood pieces acting as a bank.

It is paved with stone hillock and basalt pavers, flooring used in other pedestrian areas of the city, which is known for its durability and elegance.
