'Holidays in Peace' is an initiative of Sahrawi children temporary shelter that has been developing since 1996.

The Saharawi children come from refugee camps in Tindouf (Algeria), and the goal is to spend the summer with families, living as a member, away from the harsh conditions of the camps where they live in the desert, reaching to reach temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius.

The city of Murcia has been contributing for years with the Saharawi population through financing development cooperation projects, the Department of Equality Policy and Development Cooperation.

The objectives of this project are:

- Zoom to under harsh living conditions in the refugee camps during the summer (high temperatures, lack of water, food and medicine).

- Provide the opportunity to enjoy and live for two months in a different environment to that of permanent tension arising from the refugee situation to which they are subjected.

- Make it easy during your stay, as far as possible, to overcome the shortcomings of health and power with which they arrive.

- Enrich your knowledge of Spanish, which is the second official language of the town where they live.

- Let them know about the way of life in a developed country.

- Invite them to live and know realities they learn in the books, such as the sea, the mountains, etc..

- Making your stay with us to raise awareness of the extremely precarious situation in which families live and the Saharawi population in general.

- Enhancing mutual understanding and enhance traditional and historical friendship between the Saharawi people and the Spanish people.

Maintain and strengthen cultural ties between the two peoples.
