Chamber considered "irreplaceable" · the work of Project Man with people who need to overcome their addictions (28/06/2013)

So I explained the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, in the presentation of the memory 2012, accompanying President of the Board of Trustees Solidarity and Rehabilitation, Thomas Zamora, Assumption and Saints Pascual, director of Proyecto Hombre Murcia, and the presence also the Councillor for Social Welfare and Health, María del Carmen Pelegrin.

The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, wanted to thank once again the commitment of Project Man with society Murcia and the ongoing work with people who need help to overcome their addiction, helping to make Murcia a city increasingly supportive and cohesive.

House has referred specifically to one of the most important activities last year by the foundation, which allowed the Murcia answer the invitation made Man Project, in collaboration with the City and CajaMurcia, to attend the gala with mark the reopening of the Teatro Romea, which involved three local companies: Coral Discantus, Parrandboleros and Spanish Ballet of Murcia.

This was one of the outreach activities that promoted the association in 2012, along with a concert by Maldita Nerea, the Sports Gala II, R Solidaire and school poster contest.

513 people served in programs

Proyecto Hombre attended last year to 513 people seeking help to overcome their addictions, a figure almost identical to last year.

This is reflected in the memory of Murcia Man Project 2012, which also notes that programs with more people attended the evening were -197 -, -152 base program - gambling -38 -, -38 support program - young -35 -, -30 career guidance - and women -23 -.

Regarding the profile of users of different programs, 90% are male, with medium, single and whose main addiction corresponds to a poly (60%) and very distant, alcohol (18.9%) and cocaine ( 16.8%).

Evening Program: For people with addiction problems but who maintain a personal structure, family and work.

Taught with compatible schedules with work and family obligations.

Polydrug addition are significant addictions to alcohol and cocaine.

Base Program: This is the first treatment that began working Proyecto Hombre and lasts 18 months.

It targets people who suffer from social work and family breakdown.

Youth Program: Develops individually and features a parents workshop, involving 87 parents in 2012.

Addiction most common (75%), is cannabis.

School Prevention: Includes the program "Together" aimed at high school students, "Puzzle" for initial qualification students and "On time" for parents.

26 centers in 15 communities

Murcia Man Project is part of a national association which includes 26 centers located in 15 regions and ensures a common intervention structure, methodology and training of therapists.

The main objective of this institution is nonprofit integrated care for people with addiction problems and their commitment includes the areas of prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, research and social awareness.

For this, the method is to identify Project Man existential problem that induces a person to addiction and work it from a therapeutic-educational, in order to get regain their independence, sense of responsibility and ability to make decisions, going back to being an active member of society.
