The City is leading a trade mission to the Mexican city of Irapuato (28/06/2013)

Institutional Relations Councilman City of Murcia, Joaquín Moya-Angeler, has led a trade mission to the Mexican city of Irapuato, in the state of Guanajuato, in order to publicize Murcia entrepreneurs the possibility of creating business and increase institutional and commercial relations with the Mexican region.

This is the first initiative of the city of Murcia in Murcia International City project.

The first business visit has been organized by the city of Murcia through Marcelino Menéndez, a Mexican who lives in Murcia and is representative of Irapuato in our region, and entrepreneurs has had the energy, infrastructure and food.

The visit is born in order to leverage the contacts arising from twinning Murcia-Irapuato, held in 2005.

Angeler Moya explained that it is the time of globalization, open markets, create jobs and searching for business opportunities in other countries.

The mayor indicated that Mexico is a perfect country for the implementation of SMEs, as there are large Spanish companies to set up there that could provide service.

Among the projects planned is building relationships with sister cities and twin cities Irapuato to open new markets.

The next twinning is expected to McAllen (Texas-USA).

Institutional Relations Councilman Joaquin Moya-Angeler, who has been invited by the city of Irapuato, and Murcia delegation participated in meetings with Mexican businessmen, mayors, councilors and presidents of universities.

Irapuato has a population of 440,600 inhabitants and an area of ​​786 kilometers, with an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level.

It is located 317 km away from Mexico.

One of its main economic activities is agribusiness.

Its economy is based on agricultural production and trade as well as in the organization of trade fairs.

Irapuato is known as the strawberry capital of the world, for the production of this fruit.

Irapuato has been present on several occasions in the Feria de Murcia.
