A course at the Universidad del Mar analyzes the relationship of Christians, Moors and Jews in the Middle Ages and early Modern (27/06/2013)

The course of International University Mar-Campus Mare Nostrum "Christians, Moors and Jews at the Hispanic Society (XIII-XVII centuries)" will try to provide an updated view of the relationship between the members of these three cultures in the Iberian Peninsula in the late medieval and early modern period.

The inaugural conference will be borne by Angel Luis Molina Molina, Professor of Medieval History at the University of Murcia and co-director of the course with Joaquín Salmeron, Director of Museums and Archaeological Heritage of the City of Cieza, addressing the topic "Honor and honor in Spain in the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries. "

According to its managers "The coexistence of Christians, Muslims and Jews and conversos and Moriscos sequels in the Modern Age is an issue that continues to arouse great interest at present", since "social proposals to resolve current conflicts of coexistence between cultures have historical precedent in the Middle Ages. "

In this sense, the course attempts to analyze this historical reality to understand current events.

To do so, it addresses issues such as the Moorish Murcia, medieval medical practice or the Moors Ricote Valley as well as tours and visits Siyâsa Museum and archaeological sites in Cieza Siyâsa Medina and Villa Vieja in Calasparra, being included in the price of tuition displacement Bus from Murcia and places of excursions.

The course will be held at the Museum of Cieza Siyâsa between 8 and July 11.
