The Local Youth Council receives the Silver Quill award granted by the collective will not Prives (21/06/2013)

The Local Youth Council this morning received the Silver Quill award granted by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, Do not Prives.

This is the highest award that is given for work done on behalf of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in the Region of Murcia.

Councillor for Sport, Youth and Tourism, Miguel Cascales, and Councilwoman Equality Policy and Development Cooperation, Alicia Waterman, participated in the event.

The Local Council carried out a program with you No Prives, which made education awareness campaigns for the LGBT phobia disappear from schools.

The activities of the Gay Pride Day this morning have started with the delivery of the Silver Quill and the inauguration of the exhibition 'Historical Referents lesbians, gays, transsexuals and bisexuals in Diversity', a journey through different eras in which women and exemplary men have left their mark in history, both for its cultural contribution, and the defense of human rights.

Examples of these are historical figures like Socrates, Alexander the Great, Federico García Lorca, Fryda Kahlo, Fredy Mercuri, Leonardo Da Vinci, Chavela Vargas, Sappho, Oscar Wilde and Martina Navratilova.

At the same time it takes a journey through contemporary characters like Jesus Vazquez, Fernando Grande-Malaska, Alejandro Amenábar and leading figures within the Transgender Activism as Kim Perez, Ivan Garde or Carla Antonelli.

This exhibition will be open from June 21 to July 20 from 8.00 to 21.00 pm in the Main Library Espinardo Campus.

This afternoon, at 19.00, in the Regional Film Board will be held concerning LGBT Literary, with the participation of prominent authors Murcia and made public the decision of the jury and read the story II winner LGBT Short Story Contest ' I dare with Words'.

Tomorrow, June 22, from 18:00 hours will be the LGBT Pride demonstration, for the first time features a parade, which will start from Constitution Avenue to Gran Vía, with the slogan '2013 Youth without closets.
