IU-Green criticism Hall advertising policy on sustainable transport (24/05/2013)

The spokesman for IU-Greens in the city of Murcia, Esther Herguedas, today criticized the "political advertising" the municipal government team in sustainable transport.

Herguedas said that "not much chairing international forums and attend meetings and meetings on sustainable mobility will change the situation in the municipality of Murcia, and is going to fix their problems of transport and will achieve greater implementation of the bicycle ".

The mayor reacted well after learning that the mayor, Miguel Angel House, this week in Nice participates as a speaker at a world congress on the use of the bicycle, while the Environment Councillor will in the Civitas Forum IV, which deals on mobility.

In his opinion, it would be desirable that the City was represented in these forums to learn from the successful experiences of other cities, "but the truth is that more like we attend solely to cover with theoretical, a record that no is based on practice. "

"Best to keep walking their proposals through Europe, our municipal representatives had better put into practice what they preach, beginning to make a serious and rigorous assessment of the achievements in this field are performed in the municipality of Murcia".

Herguedas has also announced that IU-Greens requested at the next town meeting reports development of projects on sustainable mobility which includes the council, in order to conduct an analysis "that can face reality."

He has argued that membership of the City Council initiatives to promote sustainable mobility, as the European project and the project Mobisec Naviki, or creating Murcia Cast Clean program, "are achievements that consist only on paper and have not led to any change" .

"Right now we have worse public transport and more expensive than five years ago. Bicycle policies do not take off due to the lack of a clear boost traffic reduction and the absence of a commitment to public bike and bike lanes" .

About the Sustainable Mobility Plan, the mayor noted that "it has been stored in a drawer and unused", while he assured that assessment is unknown bicycle master plan.
