Users of day centers in La Glorieta plant trees in memory of their anniversary (20/05/2013)

Three night heartthrobs today have joined existing trees in La Glorieta and their arrival has been produced in the users hand of the centers of the City day stays that have opened their cultural week with the planting of these specimens.

Besides users and relatives attended the ceremony the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, accompanied by the mayors of Social Welfare and Health and the Environment, María del Carmen Pelegrin and Adela Martinez-Cache, respectively.

This is the first activity performed within a program which runs until next Friday and that marks the opening of the first center of Murcia day stays, that the City opened in May 2001 in Barriomar.

Later would add two more facilities in Beniaján-in May 2005 - and Cabeza de Torres in 2007 -.

In total, add 96 users.

Besides planting these trees, these days old will enjoy other activities such as puppet theater, gardening workshop, visits to Terra Natura, open houses and meeting between users, relatives and professionals.

In these centers, the elderly, affected by different degrees of dependency, have sanitary services and have covered their basic personal needs, therapeutic and socio-promoting their independence and stay in their usual environment, since they receive day care and evening turn to their homes.

The users of the center are people over 60 who are in situations of physical and / or psychological moderate and have a family and social support insufficient.

These are people who live with their own families, which are an important social support in this resource.

The care provided is individualized and comprehensive: it focuses on every facet in which a dependent elderly person can identify weaknesses: personal care, food, health care, rehabilitation, social integration and psychological support.

This service has a preventive and rehabilitative component important for the older person, while support is a discharge care and their caregivers.

It also provides food and nutrition services, transportation, bathing, medical, psychological, therapeutic, physical therapy, social care and family support and intervention.
